joe strummer's london calling

Submitted by: mike
WOXY.com is happy to bring you Joe Strummer's London Calling, presented in its entirety, Sunday from 10a-6p. You'll hear all 14 of Joe's original half-hour BBC programs, hosted by Jon Langford (Mekons, Waco Brothers).

The legendary and charismatic leader of The Clash, Joe Strummer, loved to listen to music on the radio, and had dreamed to one day spin records for the BBC World Service, where he heard the latest UK hits over the shortwave band as a teenager in Africa.

He finally got his wish in 1998, when the World Service premiered Joe Strummer's London Calling, a series of programs featuring one man and his eclectic record collection. His playlists spanned the globe and featured many of the rock, reggae and folk artists that inspired The Clash, including Woody Guthrie, Bo Diddley, Big Youth, and even a few old Clash nuggets. This will be the final airing of the series, so if you missed it over the last couple of weeks, you'll want to make sure you catch it Sunday starting at 10a on WOXY.com!

new woxy in cincinnati shirts

Submitted by: mike
THANKS TO EVERYONE who came out to Fountain Square and bought up the entire stock of our new WOXY t-shirts. The sale was so enormously successful that our pals at Wire & Twine completely ran out of their on-hand supply well before the T-Shirt Fest ended. Now, we'd said that online orders for this limited edition shirt may be available should demand warrant, and I think that we've heard you loud and clear. They're on sale now!

And if you missed out on the Vote WOXY or WOXY Gone To Heaven Tees, Wire & Twine has some extras that they're selling. But hurry, they only have a few left in limited sizes. Get yours now!

[this just in] on the futurist

Submitted by: mike

We've added a new regular feature to The Futurist, [This Just In], where a WOXY.com DJ gives their thoughts on a record that has recently been added to our current rotation. Expect to be introduced to new artists alongside our takes on the latest efforts from those you may already be familiar with. We'll even throw in an MP3 or a video for you to check out if we can get our hands on one. Joe's already posted introductions to two new artists he's just discovered, HORSE FEATHERS and KRISTOFFER RAGNSTAM, while Shiv raves about GENTLEMAN AUCTION HOUSE. Check it out!
