You can find me at the helm from 2 to 6p Eastern, Monday thru Friday. I'm all about the new music. To me, there's nothing as exciting as hearing a new song that instantly strikes a chord: you like it, you love it, you gotta know more about it...RIGHT NOW! Even after being at this for a while, it's still as basic as me wanting to play you something cool & interesting. I try to make every program a mix of the familiar and unfamiliar, throwing in a few hits along the way but always wanting to offer up something unexpected at just the right time.
I always thought I'd get into sportscasting, calling play-by-play but
the music caught up to me. I was fortunate enough to attend a high
school that had its own radio station, allowing me my first hands-on
experience. Then it was off to college, and college radio, at both the
University of Dayton and then Wright State University, where I became
both Program Director & Music Director at WWSU. This was during the rise
of independent labels in the 80's when college radio was at its most
influential. It was a great time. As a poor college kid, I landed a
weekend shift at the local Top 40 station to earn some extra bucks,
reviewing records for my college station while talking up the latest
Madonna hit.
Post-graduation took me to Cincinnati and WOXY-FM, as a weekend DJ. I
was asked to come aboard full-time not long afterwards but I wasn't
quite ready to leave my corporate existence. That time came much later,
when I joined as Assistant Program Director in September 1999 and
quickly added Music Director responsibilities, eventually becoming the
Program Director in June 2001.
