Radiohead- The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth Of All Time

http://nme.com/news/110143.htm

HAIL TO THE NEW DVD

RADIOHEAD have confirmed details of a new DVD which is being sold via their website.

'The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth Of All Time' is described as a "110-minute excursion into the bizarre", and will contain music from recent album 'Hail To The Thief', as well as unreleased material.

The main part of the DVD will feature 24 short films, which were broadcast as part of Radiohead TV earlier in the year.

Writing on the band’s website, Thom Yorke said: "This was originally meant to be four episodes shown on our very own television channel. It was just before 'Hail To The Thief' was released. Everyone was working themselves into a froth. They told us they could get us our own station. Somewhere here, somewhere there, you know. It was very exciting.

"We were going to take over the airwaves. So we set about puxing [sic] together some television. We got lots of tapes from a request we put on our website. Lots. Lots and lots. We also generated some television of our own to avoid going stir crazy in the studio."

The DVD is currently available to pre-order via the band’s website, priced £12.

Ah, now I get it. Cool!

I first read the post title and thought it was stating that Radiohead is the most gigantic lying mouth of all time. Then I was confused.

All is clear now.

Edited to add: I also saw the thread title right after I popped in Kid A. Weird.

Radiohead is my life basically. I love just about everything about them, but i do think they seriously lack in the DVDs. i have 7 tele-commercials. It's alright, but it isnt surround sound. Meeting People is Easy is pretty much crap. This is just wacked out. I'm all for artistic stuff, but Radiohead go a little overboard.

Just give me a live DVD!

The first time I saw it I was very disappointed, but after watching it a few more times, I really like it. I like the claustrophobic feel of it. But I agree it would be sweet if they'd put out a live DVD... They're such a great band live... amazing.

Along these same lines. I don't know that I have fully appreciated anything they've ever done the first time I heard/saw it.

They have a way of almost stretching stuff too far and then all of a sudden, just when you are ready to dismiss their work... It slaps you in the face with how awesome it really is.

It is art in its most intriguing form, if you ask me.

couldn't agree more - i was confused (a word i use too often) the first time. the claustrophobic mess that it conveys shows a new side of the music to some. and, their shows are mind blowing, other-worldliness. dreamy.

I agree with DLDude, I get what Radiohead was trying to do, but to have watch 90 minutes them being board, and now your saying to watch a few more times to get the true sense of their boardom.

I have a copy of it at home if anyone wants it.

That's kind of the way I first approached the band. My first experience of them (other than hearing Creep on the radio, of course) was buying Amnesiac at a used CD store. On first listen, my reaction was WTF is this? I was glad I gave it a few more spins, and listened to some other stuff by them, too, 'cause it did grow on me.

it's funny. i never got into "Hail to the Thief"... somehow it doesn't seem to convencing: bands writing an album about the politics of countries they don't live in.

who knows, they might live here, but that's even more strange because i doubt they're citizens. just guessing. anyone know?

--

while i'm not into the last one, I have two great Radiohead memories... one: watching Thom flail around in a pool at MTV SpringBreak ("wtf? why's Radiohead at SpringBreak?!!!"). and two: spending a few hours in a field at Blossum back in August of 2001--mindnumbing! :]

a friend "found" a recording of that show. i still listen to it. it's funny because they dedicate one of the songs to the "state of radio in the UK". it waas really a differnt world then. now, everytime i hear that, I think about how truly authentic and relevant that is as opposed to singing songs about some "other" country...

justa thought.

I absolutely LOVE the commercials DVD. IMO by far the best videos DVD out there. Paranoid Android is incredible. I usually think radiohead does a good job meshing their sound with video (or their directors do). I wasnt a big fan of "there there" until i saw the video.

Radiohead live in the UK, which had Tony Blair, who is as much in the war as the US (+/- 200,000 troops). It's the principal Thom is against. I'm not a huge fan of political songs, but on Hail To The Theif, only in 1 song can you notice it (The Gloaming). Otherwise, the album is really good.

Buy this. It is AWESOME, and I just saw it on my computer late last year (thanks to a link provided by LindseyRainbow I do believe). I can't wait to see/hear it on the somewhat-bigger screen.

HUH????

I consider it their third best album, just because its so DEEP. You might be the first person I've heard that didn't get "into" it. Wow.
