The House of Love

Anybody remember this band? I really liked them way back when. Anyway, it seems like they have a new album out (according to the House of Love website). Does anybody have any reviews on it? Might we here it on Airchexx?

I loved the only two songs I can remember at the time..."Christine" and "I Don't Know Why I Love You" (or at least that's what I think it is called). How ironic because I just found their greatest hits cd out there on the web for download.

when you say 'way back when' how far back does that refer to? Are you saying maybe the late 90's or maybe the late 80's or something? Just curious.

I have "The Beatles and the Stones" on a mix, I'm considering buying an album of theirs, they have a pretty good sound.

Technically, I cannot remember them if I wasn't aware of them in their heyday, but I do own a particularly well-worn copy of their John Peels session. Good stuff indeed, so that is much anticipated news, thank you.

I actually am in possession of their "best of" disc-it's probably available on Amazon. BIG fan of Guy Chadwick and co. Ivy does a neat cover of "I Don't Know Why I Love You." Fave song by them is still "Shine On."

They were around in the late '80's, early '90's I think and were popular in England.

I always felt kind of bad for them. Despite having some great songs, they peaked just as Madchester was exploding. With all the buzz surrounding the Mondays, the Roses and Flowered Up (heh), they just were forgotten about, which is a shame.

They were, and what a mighty band live, despite Chadwick's weedy vocals. I saw them four or five times, and have to say that if they tour to promote their new LP anywhere near you, go and see them. Terry Bickers is one of the greatest guitar players i've ever seen - you may also want to check out Levitation, his band after THOL started throwing their toys at each other and split up. Haven't heard the new album yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Man, I forgot about Levitation. I'v got a Flower Shop Records 7" somewhere.

Scratch that. The Flower Shop 7" I'm thinking of is Swervedriver.

The only House of Love songs that matter. Great tunes!

I'm interested in hearing the new stuff.
