New Coldplay details (album/tour)

I just got this:

COLDPLAY NEW ALBUM / SINGLE DETAILS....

Coldplay's new album X&Y will be released by Parlophone on 6th June,
preceded by the single Speed Of Sound on 23rd May.

The follow up to 2002's Brit and Grammy award winning 'A Rush Of Blood
To The Head', X&Y was recorded over the past year at studios in the UK
and has been produced by Danton Supple (Morrissey, Elbow), Ken Nelson
(Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Convenience) and the band.

"We wanted to try new things out, to move our sound along," says Jonny,
"but the focus remains on the songs, and Chris's voice is sounding amazing.
Everyone is playing at the top of their game."

Following the release of X&Y the band embark on their biggest world tour yet,
starting with dates in Europe. Support Acts confirmed for the UK & Eire leg
of the tour include Doves, Supergrass, Elbow, Interpol, and Morning Runner.

The European dates are as follows:

details for all other dates listed go to the TOUR section on coldplay.com.

Additional European gigs will be added at a later date. US tour dates to be
announced in the coming weeks.

Great support acts over there... wonder who they'll end up with when they tour here?

"A Rush of Blood to the Head" is one of my favorites of all time. I really hope they can top it and surprise me.

Artwork and tracklisting unveiled, and it's ugly. Apparently they designed the cover on an Apple II computer?

Yup, at Riverbend...

http://www.riverbend-music.com/schedule.html

On Sale 5/14/05

It has been rumored that Echo and The Bunnymen may be supporting some dates in the US. The Coldplay tour in the US will be happening about the time the new Bunnymen album and tour will be occurring. Chris Martin and Ian McCullooch are pals and Coldplay has covered "Lip Like Sugar" live and acknowlege an influence. This would be sweet as I am a big fan of the Bunnymen and Coldplay.

The ad in the new CityBeat says they'll be at Riverbend on Aug 11 but the Rivebend website says Aug. 9

hmmm, I would trust the Riverbend site. I could swear it siad the 11th this morning, so it may have been updated. Can't do that with the print ad so easily. I could be wrong but either way I am going.

However, the Enquirer says it is the 11th for what its worth.

Since it has taken them so long to write this new album (or at least too long for me), Coldplay has fallen out of favor with me, slightly at least. I hope this album is as great as the previous two, so my interest peaks yet again.

the most expensive tickets are $69.50 plus TM charges etc, so likely $80 or more when all is said and done... wow.

yeah but if there is a good opener like the Bunnymen, Doves, Supergrass or Interpol I can justify that since I don't see many shows anymore. Usually I would have to drive to Cleveland or Chicago from Cincy to see any of these bands, so if I add up gas, expenses and the potential good opening act it works for me.
