WOXY Joins Future Sounds

To our WOXY family -

We have some exciting news to announce today, and that news is that WOXY is now officially part of Future Sounds, Inc. You may have heard John and Larry on Future Sounds Radio that we air on Mondays, and they bring much to the table, most notably a real passion for music and a passion for what we do here at WOXY.

We're incredibly energized and excited about teaming with Future Sounds and what the coming months hold. The first immediate benefits of this relationship are our new broadband 128 kbps MP3 streams. Now you can listen to WOXY with better fidelity than you ever have before, and that is just the start of good things to come!

I'll ask. What exactly is Future Sounds, Inc. I assumed it was a music blog that has a packaged podcast. Is it more than that?

And not meaning to pry and you don't have to answer if you cannot but does that mean that Lala sold Woxy to FS?

They do release their own compilation CDs (I think).

Whoa.......so this is good? Well I guess now I won't go so far out of my way to support LaLa. Were they about to drop you guys? What exactly does this mean for WOXY? How big and how stable is this company?

Agreed. Looking at the blogsite again, it looks like they are also a bit into show promotion and working with other websites and independent magazines (The Owl Mag, Stranded in Stereo, Sonic Living). I think that this is a brilliant strategy by the way -- it feels very collective, grass rootsy, sixties-ish.

Without being too nosy as well, I'm curious to see if this means Lala sold WOXY to FutureSounds?

If that is indeed the case, then I guess I don't have to bend over backward to feel obligated to support Lala in my CD purchases.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but I hope that Future Sounds, Inc., has the financial ability to support WOXY. If Future Sounds, Inc., did indeed purchase WOXY from Bill and Lala, then I guess I've underestimated the financial power of a company that uses the Blogspot domain as their main website. I'd always assumed that John and Larry did the Future Sounds thing as a hobby rather than a job, but I guess I was incorrect on that.


Either way, I hope this all bodes well for WOXY for many years to come!

Bryan and guys. I think that you know that we are, as always, supportive of your efforts. You have all done a phenomenal job in these fledgling days of music industry upheaval. You enjoy intense fan loyalty but that is because you are as inclusive as you can possibly be and we trust you. I am proud to call myself a WOXY supporter.

So we are not trying to be 'butt-in-skys'. We are just as excited to hear about what could be up. Is this WOXY 3.1 or WOXY 4.0?

BTW, I see that http://futuresounds.com/ has an enticing website!

I'd actually wondered if there was any significance behind the switch from woxy.lala.com over to woxy.com earlier in the week. Guess there was after all.

And I guess if I had done a little sleuthing on the website, I would have noticed the bottom of all of the webpages say "Copyright Future Sounds, Inc. 2009 All Rights Reserved".

Well, the LaLa logo/banner at the top left of every page is gone, so I guess it was transferred/sold.

There was a lot of potential, and there still is, for WOXY to be a great vehicle for song sales. I notice the buy links still link to lala, so perhaps it's not a complete parting of ways.

Too bad we have to GUESS Bryan!

I keep reading these Lala comments and think that if you are getting value out of the service then this shouldn't change anything. Think of Lala, WOXY, Future Sounds, etc as the "good angels" in an industry of ne'er-do-wells!

The Future of Rock and Roll and Future Sounds goes nicely together. All kinds of possibilities!

Thinking about the a new web servers and the 128 KB streams, this is not a downsizing or a tightening of the belt. This is attack mode! (and that is good!)
