120 Minutes: DEAD.

If you missed it, tonight was the final episode of 120 Minutes on Mtv2. Pinfield and Kendall were back with the current host reliving old moments and videos.

it's being replaced with a show called "Subterranean" that will air Friday nights at midnight.

Aw, crap.

Oh well, I've always managed to miss it on MTV2... I guess it really died for me when it vanished from MTV. Chris Booker sucked as a host towards the end there.

I want a time machine to take me back to 1994... some Alternative Nation, 120 Minutes, maybe even some Liquid Television would be nice!

I caught it, and I am so glad I did. The show brought back so many memories, emotions, and so forth. *sigh* I really do think Jim Shearer will do a great job with Subterranean. Of course I will always miss 120 Minutes though--so many great moments. One reason why I look forward to Subterranean is more live performances--something 120 lacked in its last years.

How about it though? 17 years. I am really they did something special for the last show.

It was good to see "Alright" from Supergrass again too.

Eh, well I doubt any other show will dethrone 120, what, with how much staying power MTV's shows have?

I guess once The Real World gets to the 17-year mark, we can start counting our blessings.

I just happened to tape this last night, so I know what I'll be watching when I get home.

Hopefully, I didn't fuck up the taping as is so easy to do when taping from satellite.

Come to think of it, I did get back up and watch TV later in the night before it came on, so I might have switched it off the channel. Dammit.

Sounds like you need TIVO. It will change your life.

If you have Directv, I think they're running an offer right now where you can get a dual-tuner unit for under $200 if you're an existing customer.

(I don't work for them!)

Didn't 120 minutes take over the slot for I.R.S. The Cutting Edge? Before I had a car, I remember staying up late at night and taping my favorite videos. I think I still have a few. Off to search....

Cool. Guess I don't have to ask what Subterranean will be like now!

it's still 120 minutes, just renamed. i mean everything about it is the same. funny, one of my favorite magazines renamed itself this month too (movieline is now hollywood life)

i taped last night's show too. i had never seen a sisters of mercy video before, so that was really cool. i could've done without the limp bizkit "highlight" though.

I think so... I remember IRS' Cutting Edge. It used to be on Sunday nights after "The Young Ones".

120 Minutes is gone.. One of the last reminders of my high school years. The show that exposed me to Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, The Farm, Erasure, Billy Bragg, etc.. is gone!!

Dave Kendell was by far the best host. I stopped watching as much when that Kennedy chick and Matt Pinfield took over!!

Does anybody remember those 120 Minute Compilation CD's?? There was 2 Volumes. One had REM, Julian Cope, and Morrissey on it and another one had New Order, Depeche Mode, etc.. on it. They were called "Nevermind the Mainstream" and came out in 1991??

oh the memories. I remember taping 120 min every sunday and watching it mon. morning before i went to high school. ah, the first time I saw Stone Roses' I wanna be Adored video. Bliss.

I will always love you Matt Pinfield, esp the episode when Frank Black came on and they looked like twins.

oh god, and who was that female host they had on there for a while on M2 that never moved her arms? I will forever hate her for being the downfall of 120 min.
good times, good times.

saying 120 minutes is dead is misleading though. subterranean is the EXACT SAME SHOW.

it's the same premise, the same kinds of artists, the same spirit, the same host, etc.
